Learning Through the Lens of Story
Winter Program 2024
Following the two-month Communiversity Summer Program in 2023, the team—together with Panchkhal Municipality and Sarbamangala Multiple Campus—launched a two-week Communiversity Winter Program (CWP). Held from February 5 to 24, 2024, the program brought together 13 young participants from diverse backgrounds to explore both self and community through an immersive learning experience.
Over the two weeks, learners worked closely in teams alongside mentors and community members, engaging with the everyday rhythms, knowledge, and lived realities of the place. The program encouraged a hands-on, collaborative approach to understanding the unique dimensions of the community.
At its core, the Winter Program adopted a storytelling approach—particularly digital storytelling—as a way to connect personal narratives with those of the community. The community was explored through eight dimensions: nature, food, people, art, festivals, language, rituals, and space. Each team selected a dimension to dive deeper into, and through continuous immersion and reflection, gathered rich stories from the field. These experiences were then shaped into narratives using elements of filmmaking, allowing learners to translate community insights into meaningful stories.
